Some milestones passed while I was not blogging.
I will jot them down- lest I forget.
First, I am now married to a bonafide member of the AARP.
(and yes...it's the same woman I have always been married to).
She was giddy when she got her membership card in the mail.
Happy Birthday (in April) my love.

...and you thought I married for love
Last winter we were horrified to find that a dank little crawl space in our near century old home had been taken over by rodents.
While simply moving was our top choice, packing seemed daunting so we decided to 'urge' the critters to relocate.
We started the project on our own but quickly saw that we were outmatched and brought in professionals.
After our guests had permanently left the premisis, we had the crawl space cleaned out and sanitized. All that was left was to re-insulate and close up the openings so no future happy families could move in. We had already dumped quite a bit of money into this little creepy hole in the wall (most likely a coal access or some such thing),
We went to our local big box store and purchased insulation, and the cutest little hazmat suit.

We added gloves, goggles and a mask - and she was ready to go.
Clever gal that she is - she suggested we use the halogen work light to make it bright and cheery in there. See how good lighting can dramatically improve your space.
The work went quickly with me on the outside cutting lengths to size and handing them in. There were times when she was pretty far in there... so I pushed them in with a broom handle. heh.
Can you see why she is such a catch?

addiction
We have been celebrating our anniversary on July 26th for many of the 24 years we've been together. At some point over the course of those two dozen years we just decided to pick a date that we could call our anniversary. It certainly helped in tracking the years gone by. But the date was basically made up... invented for convenience.
Now -we have a new, 'real' date. So we will celebrate then, but for old times sake, we thought we should at least honor this day with a dinner out.
Plus we were too tired to cook on Sunday.
Tired in a really good way.
Tired in a way where you may just need to nap a bit. Perhaps several times during the course of the day.

So after we dropped off our little overnight guests we went out to be served. To have someone bring us food and drink while we sat, relaxing and enjoying each others company.
It was just after dinner that our addiction reared its ugly head.
We were full.
We were tired.
And yet there, right there, on the way home was...
Starb*cks.
Home to the highly addictive Frappuccino.
What the hell do they put in those things?
We simply
had.
to.
have.
one.
There we were physically exhausted, stuffed full of sushi only to be topped off with a huge cup of frozen caffeine.
Not only did we clean the kitchen, vacuum and put away the port-a-cribs when we got home - but we poured another glass of wine and enjoyed it by the firepit.
Ahhhh. They are tasty. And cold. And refreshing. I actually want one right now.. the morning after... I could use one - just one...a small one - then I'll stop. Really.

It's all about the beni's
When I lost my job in November... hmm, "lost" - I didn't technically 'lose' anything.
I mean..you 'lose' your keys, you can 'lose' weight...but if I lost my job -- wouldn't that mean I might find it again.
Anyway... I digress.
Technically, I was an employee until Friday, January 2nd. Which means that our health benefits were good until that date. Years ago when I started with this company they were very progressive in their support of domestic partnership benefits which even allowed us to have Ferris on the plan.
So, the week before Christmas my hard working wife inquired at her job only to find that since Connecticut laws have changed - companies now require same sex couples be married to be eligible for benefits.
Hmm, ok - no problem. We'll visit the town hall sign some papers and hey... what the heck we'll take the kids out to dinner to celebrate.
It would be our 'marriage of convenience.'
Welp... when our dearest friends Betsy and Sammy heard of our plans - they would have none of that.
With a week to plan and organize and acquire - these two warm and wonderfully amazing people, with artistic help from Sue (and accomplices Kate and Karen) turned our home into a veritable marriage wonderland.
We then contacted our oldest friends in the world, Elaina and Alan, who knew us when we were first falling in love - back in the 80's with our big hair and parachute pants. Elaina is a Rabbi and we wanted to know if she would be able to marry us in a civil ceremony.
After some legal investigating - she left a simple message on our machine days before the wedding.
"Yay, yay, yay!"
And so on January 2nd, 2009 in front of our families and a small group of friends-
we were married by a Rabbi

and Bets.

We love them more than we can express.
We exchanged ALL of the rings we have given each other over the years.

Our kids helped out by holding all the rings...

And we took turns telling the story of each one.

And now... finally, when I speak of my many-adjectived wife - she really is, legally and binding, with all the benefits...
my wife.

the special, stunning, sexy, sultry, silly, seven

Dude, where's the party?
Remember when you were in high school and you waited to see whose parents would be stupid enough to go away for a long weekend.
Party on, dude.
Welp, Ferris is away this week. It's his annual mission trip with his church's youth group - tho now he travels with them as an adult advisor. I am always so proud of him for not only doing this trip each year, but getting so much out of it as well.
My giddy wife and I are taking the entire week off from work to enjoy the big empty house.
So... party is at our house. I should warn you tho, if you're planning to stop by, you may want to call first ;)

To Blave
weese can be anxious at times.
Anxiety often comes to weese in the spring. The spring brings many things to do which must be done in a timely manner. The list is daunting to weese. Add to these spring things – Ferris arriving home for summer break with three times as much laundry as he left with, and discourse where weese works…and you have one weese who really should be medicated.
Ah, but then there is weese’s most patient wife. She seems to sense the energy before even pulling into the driveway. She steels herself, and then walks into it. She speaks just a few words, waves her arms around a bit and this fretful weesy energy disperses all over the room seeping out the windows and doors. Then she gently sets weese off on a task, and calmly sorts through the loose ends.
This weese is blessed.
