Pride '07

We had such a great time at NYC Pride last year that we decided to add to the fun and go in a day early for the women's dance on Pier 54.

Fantastic. The music was great, the women were hot, and we danced until we couldn't stand anymore.

What I treasure about being able to celebrate Pride in NYC is the powerful ties to the origin of a movement. While this was only our second time ... we again got to talk to someone who was there at the beginning... Stonewall '69.

Sunday morning we walked into a bar (yes.. morning ... bar... hey - it was Pride) and while we were sipping our breakfast mimosa's - our bartender, a retired NYC cop who served The Village precinct, regaled us of stories of Stonewall and how it all began.

So while you are celebrating Pride events around the country and wearing rainbows and watching parades and dancing and enjoying the 'scenery' - remember where it started.

Very cool. I didn't know about the riots. I went to my first pride parade here in Seattle on Sunday. I had a blast!

That must have been amazing! The only Pride we've been to was last year in Hartford, and it was pitiful.

A bar in the morning? I'm impressed. (and jealous)

I love hearing first hand accounts of historic events. Very cool.

Scout and I have given up Pride since having to work at a booth her company set up some years ago. I fully support others' enjoyment of it. NYC Pride would be cool.

Thank you for the history, Weese. Good read.

I bet you and Mrs. Weese were adorable dancing. ;)

So you are well versed on the history of Pride as well as the battle of Bunker Hill. Very impressive, yes.

New Orleans and New York are two places where a morning trip to the corner bar is perfectly acceptable.

PS - You know, I'm really getting sick of the two of you being so damn adorable. Just stop it, mmmkay?

so... evidently getting drunk in the morning is 'adorable'
you people really need to raise the bar a bit (tee hee)

We're so jealous, Weese. I'm glad you and the wife had such a grand time, however!

I helped to organize, and am proud to say, that I marched in the very first Christopher Street West parade in Los Angeles. I was actually in the back of a convertible, not marching, but you get the idea. It was our answer to Stonewall. Long time ago, but I'll never forget it. Talk about history! Troy (Perry) was getting MCC up and running, I was the president of the Daughters of Bilitis and the Mattachine Society was in full swing. It seems like a million years ago!!
