making room

I just got back from having a tooth extraction.
The way I look at it - now I have more room for brains.
Then again, the copious amounts of Novocaine have not yet worn off - lets see what I think after all I am left with is my cold compress and pain meds.

Evidently, I have some freaky root system that even takes a little turn at the bottom. You know its never good when they start calling out to their colleagues "You gotta come see THIS!"

Once again, we thank the powers that be for nitrous oxide.

Too bad my dentist became a crack head... I could use some nitrous oxide.

Now that there is a vacancy in your mouth, will you get a bridge? I need to go to the dentist, but have exteme dental fears from a childhood experience. I actually lie to my daughter so she won't have any fears.

oh phew you made it back ok, guess you didn't need a ride! ;) I was at the dentist yesterday too. Another perfect checkup for me. The hygienist said I had the cleanest mouth she had seen all day. I guess that was a complement.

ha...right I forgot about the ride - thanks Lost.

MDog - they are trying to talk me into an implant. might have to blog about that because I am skeptical - plus they are pricey.

Ouch, Weese! Hope you're okay by now.

One of my wisdom teeth had three of its four roots fused together. Can we say traumatized?

I break out in hives when I read about people going to the dentist. I've got one of those crazy root systems as well. They can never get it fully numb so at some point he always says just hold on and I'll do it as quick as I can. He does however always send me home with good drugs so I can't complain. Hope you are feeling better.

Implants on upper teeth are more problematic than on the lower jaw. Too close to the sinus cavity. A bridge may harm the attached teeth if they are vital (alive), however if the one before and after have had root canals it is the best way to go, though these too are costly.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth out when I was 18, but I don't have a story because I had it done in the hospital and it healed really well.
Other than that, I have never had any teeth extracted, plus I quite like going to the dentist.

Yeah, so many options, so many $$$, and so many insurance complications. I not only have fear of being at the dentist, but fear of the pricetag as well. You'll have to do some research on the costs and what insurance will cover. My Dad had all his teeth pulled and then made a trip to Mexico for dentures. The dentures were a fraction of the cost here in the US, and never had a lick of problems with them. Amazing!! I would never have the balls to do what he did.

Hope its better soon. I do love nitrous at the dentist.
I know what you mean about calling in the colleagues- I felt the same way when a court reporter told my attorney- "I think that's the most interesting deposition I've ever heard"
