The FREE cat

The FREE cat is still under lockdown in the barn. The cat expert people say we need to keep her in there for at least six weeks. She is doing fine - eating, peeing, pooping... all is well. She seems a little bored to me, but we have seen no signs of rodents out there since we got her.

Meanwhile this is what we found in the basement last night...

Those are teeth marks. This is the cord for the dehumidifier. Which was plugged in.

Not sure this whole 'feral cat' thing is working the way we planned.

WHY can't you keep her isolated in the basement?

Yikes. I think the FREE cat is quite pretty. An alteration like an afro is NOT necessary :P

The outdoor rodents are too scared of FREE cat and have moved on into the safety of the basement. Perhaps another FREE cat is needed?

All 3 of the cats I've had over many years have chewed up electric cords of one type or another - usually the thinner the better for them. Don't know why it doesn't shock the heck out of them - or maybe it does and they like it...

yep, we've had several cats with a taste for electrical wires too...buy rolls of electrical tape in bulk :) I keep telling J she should appreciate our feral pack's stealthy hunting abilities more...the recently deposited bird head on the front lawn isn't helping

I don't know if this will work for the FREE cat, but I kept pencils in planters (like little pencil trees) for our cat to chew as an electrical cord alternative. He liked to sink his teeth into something, pencils seemed safer.

Looks like your rodent has decamped from the shed into the house. Your free cat is obviously working, just not where you wanted her to. :)

So leave the cord as it is...a few more chews and your problem will be alleviated.
