not quite a tip-o-day
Ever since we have started to cut the grass with our trusty reel mower, I can't tell you how many people have said they couldn't do it simply because it would be too much effort.
(if you are one of those who mentioned this... take solace, you're not alone)
Yet, we'll pay hundreds of dollars to a gym to run for an hour and get nowhere, or sit on a bicycle and watch television then go lift heavy things up and down and up and down only to put them back where we found them.
And people say I have gone mad.
Are you out of shape, need some firming up?
Think about it.

Point noted, oh wise weese. (this sounds alot like George Carlin... could he be channeling thru you?!!!)
I thought about this as I cut the lawn today...with the electric mulching mower, and then the reel mower for the places the cord won't reach. I think you need to have a nearly weed free yard for the reel mowers to do any good. Ours sucks on the heavy weed areas.
Weese - you think a lot like me. I know I've told you that I don't have a reel mower, but my mower isn't self-propelled either. It's actually very hard to push uphill, and through thick St. Augustine grass. I have always considered my yard work as a part of my weekly exercise. It's such good exercise, and outdoors with fresh air and nature.
hmmm.....im outta shape....i need some firming up....i thought about it.....nothing changed. i think its a hoax!!
the people-powered mowers are good when just trimming the lawn. however, in a year of high rain when grass grows faster than a teenager in a growth spurt, when away for a few days or if one gets ill and can't do the mowing twice or three times a week, having a back up electric mower is a really good thing.
I'm with dykewife...try cutting Suthun' grass with that thing. You'll say, 'fuck this shit' and hire an Alonzo. Then you'll have time to do cocktail bicep curls.
You're mad.
To quote Val in the comments section of your last post, 'Uh, no.'
Bayou and I would prefer to use the push mower, but with her neck/arm issues it just causes her too much pain. :(
I used to mow my grandma's lawn with one. It moved fairly easily.
However, when I bought one a few years ago - supposedly the "premium" brand, I couldn't move the sucker--struggled with it for months. I hated it. Put it out at the curb and some other sucker picked it up.
Great idea, I think maybe they need to go back to whatever older technology there was - it worked way better.
